From Asia’s first sun to where the land ends

Set off by bike from Cape Nosappu, Japan’s easternmost point, and keep riding west all the way to Cabo da Roca, in Portugal. Cross the whole of Asia and Europe chasing the sunset. I’ve been thinking about it for years; this site is how I stop thinking and start. This page is my diary: every day I’ll write and post photos from the road. Posting something every single day will be hard, but the idea is to try.

A trip this size can’t be planned end to end: visas, seasons and the road itself will keep changing the plan. This is today’s idea.

Who’s riding

I’m Pato, a photographer and videographer, and I love both. I’ll tell this journey the way I know best: in photos and video, here, on Instagram and on YouTube.

Before any of this, my life had the shape of a mechanic’s workshop and the sound of a delivery truck. I fixed cars, then carried water and soda door to door through the streets of my city, in Argentina. It was honest work, predictable, with fixed hours and routines that repeated week after week. And still, something in me kept asking the same question: what is out there?

The places were the setting. The people were the story.

The route, for now

Help me get there

This trip runs on legs and on help. There are three ways to give it.

Buy a photo

The way to help that already works: every print you buy in the shop is one more kilometre. Shipping across the European Union.

Go to the shop

Chip in

Every contribution turns into kilometres: gear, visas, food and repairs on the road.

Buy me a tea in Kyrgyzstan, a meal in Georgia, a night in the tent, a puncture fixed or the Caspian ferry.
